Post Menopausal Ovarian Cysts
Simple ovarian cysts are more common in pre menopausal women than post menopausal women.
Ovarian cysts are are fluid-filled sacs that form from the cells of ovary or on the surface of the ovaries.
After menopause ovries doesent release oestrogen or progesterone, but still won’t be completely inactive.
They can still develop cysts such as,
Dermoids, which develop from cells
Cystadenomas, which grow on the surface of the ovary
Cancerous ovarian cysts are rare but they’re more common in older women.
Symptoms of ovarian cysts:
- Dull ache or pain in lower abdomen
- Pressure, bloating, swelling
- Bladder or bowel problems
- Spotting or bleeding
- Weight gain
If the cysts ruptured, cause symptoms like
- Sudden, acute pain
- Nausea, vomiting
- Dizziness, fainting
- Rapid breathing
- Heavy bleeding
- Fever
